This blog was totally forgotten by me. I am too lazy to post anything on this blog, so .. yeah.
It did not mean that I am not doing anything productive last year.
I have done a lot. I bought so many books, really! I read them too.
And I did take the IELTS test.
So .. let's cut to the chase and talk about the real thing now.
I did watch a movie this evening, and it's called "Arrival".
The casts were Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner. The movie was about the arrival of some spaceships at twelve different locations.
It's all begin by the flashes of Louise Banks' (Amy Adams) memories about her daughter, from her (the daughter) birth until her death. Louise is a linguist. She teaches at a university. One day, strange object landed on Montana and it was a spaceship. Turn out, the identical spaceships also landed on other locations. People wonder about what's in the spaceship and what purpose it carries because the aliens did nothing and those spaceships remain still in their places. The military forces in each country approached those spaceships and trying to figure their purpose out. Unfortunately, the aliens did not speak English (not like other alien movies, hehe). They spoke a strange language, so the military came to Louise and asked her help.
Louise went to the site and with the help of Ian Donnelly (Jeremy Renner), a theoretical physicist, they went in the spaceship to "talk" with the aliens. Louise had a different method to approach the aliens and gain their understanding. She tried to understand their visual communication, through their writing. And that method has resulted some progress. With Ian's help, they finally can communicate with the aliens.
Military colonel demand answer on their biggest question: "What is their purpose?" and the aliens answered: "Use your weapon". The military forces misunderstood their answer. They thought the aliens want to start a war with humankind. Other countries thought the same and they prepared their own weapons. Louise did not believe that the weapon aliens meant was literally a weapon. She did not believe it because she always got some flashbacks about her death daughter after her contact with the aliens. She believed that the aliens did not mean any harm, so when the war about to begin, she went to the spaceship alone and spoke to one of the alien. She finally understood the aliens' purpose. The aliens wanted to share their knowledge and technology to make people understand the concept of time. They divided the information into twelve pieces to unite the countries on the earth to keep working together because those aliens knew that they will need human's help in the future. They asked Louise to use her weapon, which was, evidently, Louise could see the future, to stop the war. So, Louise, with her ability to see the future, see herself talking to the Chinese's commander and make him stop the war. Finally, Louise could stop the war and reassured the other countries to share the information they've got from the aliens to finally work together.
Turns out, the flashes about Louise daughter was not a flashback, but it was about the future daughter of Louise and Ian. Lousie decided, even if she knew what will happen in her life, that her daughter will die and Ian will eventually leave her, she would not change that and accept it.
Arrival is a good movie, I think. It is different with other aliens movies. People said the the movie was confusing, but not for me. I totally can figure it out in the middle of the movie when Louise "saw" her daughter ask about the science term of something and Louise says "If you want science, ask your father." I am amazing, am I? Haha. Okay. Enough.
So, this blog will probably active again, or probably not. I don't know. So, see you when I wanna see you.
Best regards,
Arina
